E+I held the final round on Wednesday in Sticht Lecture Hall on campus.

Open to students of all majors, the competition included two divisions: commercial enterprise and social enterprise. The competition aimed at equipping students with networking and professional skills for business and entrepreneurship.

This year’s competition had 278 student entries from 37 different majors and dual-enrolled students, a 65% increase in entries over last year and the highest total involvement in the 19-year history of the competition.

“We’re excited to see the tremendous growth in registrations for the EPC,” E+I Executive Director Yvonne English said. “We’re especially grateful to faculty from various departments who have seen the value of the competition and encouraged their students to participate, as this competition equips our students to bring their exciting and inspirational ideas to the world.

Students had two minutes to present their venture to a panel of judges, and thanks to an anonymous donor, the placement prizes were doubled, so first-place winners received $1,000, compared to the original $500.

Sophomore computer science and data science major Aaron Show took first overall in the commercial enterprise division for his pitch for Venari Track, a tracking device that attaches to an arrow so hunters can responsibly track and harvest wild game while reducing waste.

Commercial enterprise division runner-up winners include freshman entrepreneurship major Rebekah Lockert, who won $800 for Let’s Be Crafty, finishing in second. Lastly, sophomore entrepreneurship major Tyce Bowers (Shroudly) and freshman English and communications major Anna Kasianides (The Common Thread) tied for fourth, each receiving $400.

Prizes remained the same for the social enterprise division.

Junior Jessica Pratt, a communications and design and innovation major, secured first place for her pitch for Adapted Adventures, a nonprofit video concierge service for individuals with special needs or physical limitations.

“I had a brain injury back in 2022. From there, I had a lot of sensory and mobility impairments that were a result of that.
